Chinese smartphone brand OPPO has launched a new midrange 5G smartphone with the new OPPO A72 5G. As usual, it is yet another revamp of an older phone. But unlike the 4G version of the device comes powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC, in comparison to the Snapdragon 665 chipset of the last edition.
The differences between these two devices does not end with the processor. The OPPO A72 5G unexpectedly comes with downgraded rear cameras. While the 4G model sports five cameras at the back, the 5G version, on the other hand, only has three rear cameras. These are the 16-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Upfront, it has an 8-megapixel selfie shooter

Unfortunately, the battery of the OPPO A72 5G is also smaller with only 4,040mAh in comparison to the 5,000mAh battery capacity of the 4G model. The OPPO A72 also comes with an improved 90Hz refresh rate as opposed to the 60Hz of the older phone. The reduction in the battery capacity is disappointing as we expect the phone to use up more battery with its 5G feature and higher refresh rate.
In terms of similarities, the 5G version features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD. It is also available in 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Its other highlights include ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The OPPO A72 5G is available in three colors and retails for a price of CNY1,899 or roughly around Php13,350 before taxes. No word yet if this will be available in the Philippines.
