As what you just saw on the table above, there’s not much anything new with the Samsung Galaxy A50s over the Galaxy A50. Well, besides in some key major areas.
One of which is — although it’s not part of the table above — the Galaxy A50s has a more interesting design.
It still has that glossy pattern on the back, which changes in colors as the reflections react to light. But this time, it now has 3D prism accents, which provides a much-needed spice to the Galaxy A50’s design. Hence the “Prism Crush” naming in all its color options.

Samsung also greatly improved the device’s camera. The Galaxy A50’s 25-megapixel primary camera, as well as the 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 5-megapixel depth sensors have been passed-on to the also new Galaxy A30s.
With the Samsung Galaxy A50s, the primary camera was upgraded to a 48-megapixel sensor. Also, the 25-megapixel selfie snapper was improved to a 32-megapixel one.
Besides that, everything is pretty much the same Galaxy A50 that we liked before. The Galaxy A50s still has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen, with Samsung’s ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner built-in.
It is also powered by the same 2.3GHz Exynos 9611 octa-core processor, with 6GB of memory and 128GB of expandable storage. It’s then being juiced up by a 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charger.
There are also some dated features that make it futureproof. There’s your USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band WiFi. For the best listening experience, Samsung also rigged it with Dolby Atmos surround technology.
So, which one should you get? Well, if the best possible specs and features between the two are what you want, then getting the Samsung Galaxy A50s is a no-brainer.
But the thing is, this one costs Php3,000 more at Php18,990. That’s because the Samsung Galaxy A50’s price went down from Php17,990 since its release, to its current price of Php15,990.
So, if that new design and upgraded cameras really appeal to you, then you should go with the newer model. But if you’re all about performance, then the Galaxy A50 can still serve you well. You can then save some money by doing so.
We’ll also be publishing our full review of the Galaxy A50s in the coming days, so you might want to wait for that before making the final decision.
