Samsung Leader 8 flip phone

Smartphones with a bar form factor became popular because of a one, innovative reason. And that’s how well the manufacturers were able to completely remove the physical keyboard and have a software replica pop-up on your screen only when you need it. However, today’s lifestyle trend is all about throwbacks. Meet the Samsung Leader 8.

Quite a few companies have already made with their own modern flip phones in the recent years. Brands like Alcatel and LG have their own contemporary flip phones, but no one took the form factor seriously like Samsung. Late last year, the Samsung W2017 was born. It was packed with two 1080p displays and other high-end internals. And now, the Korean giant is giving it another try with the Samsung Leader 8.

Just like the W2017, the Leader has two 4.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screens. If you’re not using the physical keyboard, you can easily close it shut and use it like a regular form-factor smartphone. The device also has an aluminum alloy body. And judging by the picture, its black color with gold accents make it look really premium.

At the back, we have the 12-megapixel rear camera, and right below that is the fingerprint sensor. The scanner’s position will let you unlock the device whatever screen you are using.

The Samsung Leader 8 is being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It might not have the latest and greatest chipset around, but the Snapdragon 821 is still pretty powerful. This thing powered last year’s flagship devices like the OnePlus 3T and the Xiaomi Mi Note 2.
