A “flying car” made by a Chinese company has successfully finished its first public flight in Dubai.

The said flying car was built by Xpeng Inc., an electronic vehicle maker based in China. It was demoed in Dubai, UAE as the company plans to launch the aircraft in international markets.

Dubbed the Xpeng X2, this electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft can sit two passengers and is lifted by two propellers on each corner with eight propellers in total.

The test flight showcased the X2 flying for 90 minutes without any driver/pilot onboard. The company behind it said that this is an “important base for the next generation of flying cars.”

Xpeng held the demo in Skydive Dubai, close to the popular The Palm. As per Minguan Qiu, XPeng Aeroht’s general manager, they are making “step-by-step” to enter the international market. As to why they chose Dubai City, Qui said that it is “the most innovative city in the world.”
