Vivo-Y71-Review

Honor has built a reputation for offering the best possible smartphone for the price and that’s really evident on the table above.

As you can see, despite being identically priced, the Honor 7A was able to outshine the Vivo Y71 in key areas. The most important part is the processor used. The 7A comes with a Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset, while the latter only runs on a Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. In addition, the Adreno 506 on the 7A is more powerful to the Adreno 308 of the Y71.

The Honor 7A also comes with a better set of cameras. There’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front, which beats Vivo in its own territory as the Y71 only has a 5-megapixel front camera. The former also has a dual 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel rear shooters, while the latter only comes with a single 8-megapixel primary camera.

Honor also didn’t compromise on the security features. The 7A managed to have both face unlock and a fingerprint scanner while the Y71 settles for facial recognition.

But to the Vivo Y71’s credit, it does run on a more dated Android 8.1 Oreo with FunTouchOS 4.0. Meanwhile, the Honor 7A comes with Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0. Vivo’s offering also has a 3,360mAh battery that’s relatively better than the 3,000mAh one found on the Y71.

Lastly, the Y71 comes at 6-inches. That’s only marginally bigger than the 5.7-inch screen that the 7A has, but it’s still enough to get an edge.

In conclusion, the Honor 7A is the obvious winner here. With this one, you’re getting a smartphone that has better specs at the same price. It comes with a better processor, cameras, and a few other extras — making it an overall good contender in this price segment.

But in case you want the design and selfie prowess of Vivo, the Y71 is also a good buy at Php6,990.
