Honor Philippines has been teasing us with the imminent launch of their newest midrange smartphone here in the country. The new Honor 8X is coming to the Philippines, and it’s expected to be yet another hit for the company.
As expected, the Honor 8X has some characteristics that we usually see in Honor and Huawei devices. The most distinct one is its Kirin 710 processor, the newest chipset from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.
The other handset that runs on this chipset is the Huawei Nova 3i, the current midrange superstar from Honor’s parent company. When it launched back in July, the Nova 3 became an instant hit as it delivered tons of improvements over its predecessor, both in design and specs.
And as ironic as it may sound, Huawei and Honor are actually two of the competing names in the Philippines’ smartphone market today, despite coming from the same parent company.
Most of their respective offerings have identical price and features, which inevitably helps the consumers have more options. With that, our Honor 8X versus Huawei Nova 3i specifications and features comparison should hopefully help you decide. So, let’s start!

The table above clearly states that the Honor 8X and the Huawei Nova 3i have tons of similarities. However, there are still some areas that we can tell them apart.
If you’re a heavy smartphone user who watches tons of videos and play games for the most part of your day, then the Honor 8X might be the one for you. This handset packs a large 3,750mAh battery, which easily dominates the 3,340mAh battery capacity of the Nova 3i.
And speaking of watching videos, the Honor 8X has a slightly larger screen than the Huawei Nova 3i. This can provide an extra screen estate not just for consuming media, but also for productivity purposes.
In addition, both devices come with the same HiSilicon Kirin 710 processors, so you don’t have to worry about the performance difference. They also come with Mali-G51 graphics with GPU Turbo support.
But if you love taking pictures, just like most smartphone users today, you might prefer the Huawei Nova 3i. It comes with four cameras in total. Its 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual rear cameras are identical to the Honor 8X. But its 24-megapixel + 2-megapixel front cameras are obviously better than the single 8-megapixel sensor of the latter.

The Huawei Nova 3i’s camera app also comes with tons of cool novelty features. Things like the AR Lens, 3D Qmoji, face filters, and more are present here. The same goes for the Honor 8X.
And since it has a smaller screen and battery, the Huawei Nova 3i has a smaller footprint. Making it easier to hold in the hands and comfortable to use.
So if size matters to you, you should wait for the Honor 8X as the company announced that it will arrive this 10th of October. But if photography and taking selfies is a top priority, then the Huawei Nova 3i is available in stores now.
The official local pricing of the Honor 8X is yet to be announced. However, judging by its SRP in China, we expect it to arrive in the Philippines with a slightly cheaper price (~Php12,000) than the Php15,990 Huawei Nova 3i.
Is it really 8-megapixel front camera in Honor 8x? I looked into another sites and found it to be 20-megapixels instead. Correct me if I’m wrong.
It’s actually 16-megapixel front-facing camera and 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel rear cameras. Updated the article. Thank you!
No GPU turbo yet on Huawei 3i..kirin 710 has lags on World of Tanks blitz..
Please correct the battery capacity of Honor 8x. It’s 3750 mAh, not 5000
Fixed it. Thank you!
