Huawei is definitely on top of their game recently. Majority of their current releases are blockbusters, and they are even poised to overtake Apple in the second top spot.
We have the Mate 20 Pro, which is arguably the best Android smartphone in the market today. There are also the cheaper options like the Nova 3 and Nova 3i, and their most affordable midrange offering to date — the Huawei Y9 2019.
This device was a hot topic when it was released as it has a large screen, feature-packed cameras, and an enormous battery. These are just some of the main things that people are really looking for on a smartphone.
However, someone is trying to steal the spotlight to the Y9 2019. Meet the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, a new killer device from the company best-known for value-oriented smartphones.
Now that it’s official and we have the detailed specs, can Xiaomi’s latest really outshine Huawei? We’ll learn the answer to that question in our Huawei Y9 2019 versus Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 specifications and features comparison.

The Huawei Y9 2019 surely has a few leads over the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. For one, it sports a bigger 6,5-inch FHD+ screen, while the latter is slightly smaller at 6.3-inches.
Huawei’s bet also features their GPU Turbo Technology which does a lot of optimizations both in hardware and software level to improve gaming performance. There’s also a secondary camera on the front for depth-sensing.
However, despite having a gigantic screen and a four-camera setup, it still has nothing against the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
For starters, this handset brags a ludicrous 48-megapixel primary camera and a secondary 5-megapixel rear shooter. That easily dominates the 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel cameras of its competitor.
Having this much pixel allows you to take pictures with extreme detail, or crop and digitally zoom the image while retaining sharpness.
It may lack GPU Turbo support, but its Adreno 512 graphics chip is still relatively more powerful than the Mali-G51 MP4 that the Y9 2019 has.
The Redmi Note 7 was also able to undermine the Huawei Y9 2019, even in the display department. While it sure is smaller at 6.3-inches, it does come with a more durable Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
There are also the smaller things like the included IR blaster, a more dated WiFi and Bluetooth versions, and of course, the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0. This is really important considering that it will juice up a large 4,000mAh battery.
Probably one of the biggest wins of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is the price. The Huawei Y9 2019 is available for Php12,990 and comes with a 4GB/64GB combo. It’s now available nationwide through Huawei stores, multi-brand shops, and through Huawei’s official stalls in Shopee and Lazada.
That’s obviously more expensive than the Redmi Note 7. The same 4GB/64GB model is available for only CNY1,199 (~Php9,200). For the Y9 2019’s price, you can already get the 6GB/64GB model, which is expected to retail for around Php12,000 to Php14,000 when it gets here in the Philippines. Speaking of which, the device’s arrival in the country is yet to be announced. So stay tuned for that.
Huawei is shit compared to Xiaomi. Kirin 710 vs SD 660? lol. The 600 will blow it to tiny bits
