OnePlus-6-vs-Huawei-P20-Specs-Comparison

When the Huawei P20 was launched back in March, people admired its design, performance, and its amazing cameras. People were drawn even more when Huawei Philippines announced its reasonable pricing here in the country.

It’s safe to say that the Huawei P20 is one of the best-value flagship smartphones that are out in the market today. However, its title is now being challenged by the newly announced OnePlus 6.

Dubbed as the “flagship killer”, OnePlus devices are known for the incredible value that they are offering for the money. Their previous iterations try to match features that other flagship devices have, but for the fraction of the cost.

And with the OnePlus 6, we expect that this new one will be way better than its predecessors considering how their company itself have matured over the past few years. However, Huawei has also learned a lot from their experiences in the past so their current releases became an instant hit to a lot of the consumers.

So, the question is — which between these two brands was able to come up with the best value-for-money smartphone? Can the OnePlus 6 continue its brand’s legacy? Or can the Huawei P20 overwhelm it?  Let’s answer that in our OnePlus 6 and Huawei P20 specifications and features comparison.

It looks like the OnePlus 6 found a tough competitor with the Huawei P20 — something that they haven’t experienced in giant tech brands in the last few years. As you can see, both devices have a really identical set of features. What’s more interesting is, their prices are not too far from each other.

For starters, both phones have a Full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio caused by the display notch on top. However, the screen on the OnePlus 6 is obviously better as it has a wide color gamut coverage, AMOLED panel, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The two smartphones are also powered by the best processor from Qualcomm and HiSilicon. Huawei used their Kirin 970 chip for the P20, while OnePlus tapped Qualcomm to equip their new flagship with the trusty Snapdragon 845 processor.

The pixel count of the two devices are almost equal, but it appears that the Huawei P20 wins this segment. It has a 24-megapixel selfie camera, which is slightly better than the 16-megapixel front shooter on the competition.

Huawei’s bet also has a 20-megapixel camera on the back that shoots in monochrome, and another sensor that shoots in RGB. Both have Leica optics, can do 5x hybrid zoom and a glorious 960fps slow-mo feature.

On the other hand, the camera on the OnePlus 6 is not too shabby either. It has a 16-megapixel camera that has OIS and DCAF, plus another 20-megapixel sensor with phase-detection autofocus.  It can also shoot slow-motion videos, but only up to 480fps.

The Huawei P20 might have the better camera, but the OnePlus 6 overtakes it in the build quality department. This thing is water resistant, although OnePlus’ website didn’t provide any IP rating. The device also retains the iconic Alert Slider that they borrowed from Apple.

Lastly, both devices come with their respective fast-charging technologies. But in the actual battery section, the P20 wins this one as it comes with 3,400mAh capacity, which is marginally bigger than the 3,300mAH capacity found on the former.

Now, let’s talk about the price. The Huawei P20 officially retails in the Philippines for a price of Php34,990. In contrast, the OnePlus 6 hasn’t been launched in the country yet so we don’t have the official price as of the moment.

The OnePlus 6 does have an official price in the US which starts at USD529 for the base model and USD629 for the top-of-the-line variant. When directly converted, it’s around Php27,600 and Php32,900, respectively. That converted price can still increase once it gets officially brought to the Philippines because of taxes and other importing dues.

But we expect the base model 6GB variant, which has more RAM capacity than the P20, to not cost more than Php31,000 when it gets here. This makes the OnePlus 6 ultimately the better value option between the two — at least on paper.
