OnePlus-6-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-S9-Specs-Comparison-NoypiGeeks

OnePlus has launched their latest flagship smartphone — the OnePlus 6. This new smartphone aims to continue the great legacy of its predecessors.

As expected, the OnePlus 6 comes with all the flagship specs that you might expect from a OnePlus smartphone. Over the past years, OnePlus has been known for their “flagship killer” moniker. This is due to the high-end specs that their offerings have, but at a more cheaper price tag when compared to the competition.

This means that OnePlus is pointing their crosshairs again in Android giants like Samsung. More specifically, their new Galaxy S9 — which is hailed as one of the best Android smartphones today. It has a great set of specs, features, and a ridiculously expensive price tag.

Samsung Galaxy S9 hands on

At first look, it looks like the OnePlus 6 is really the most appealing option between the two. For the price tag, it almost matches the features that the more expensive Samsung Galaxy S9 have. However, if we’ll just be talking about the specs, you might find the premium price premium of the S9 acceptable.

For starters, the Galaxy S9 is one of the most gorgeous-looking smartphones around. Sure, OnePlus has clearly stepped up their game with the OnePlus 6 as they finally used glass, instead of the metal material that they usually utilize in their smartphones. But still, I think Samsung really nailed the design department on this one.

In addition, the Galaxy S9 has a better screen. It sports a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED screen, which is obviously more pixel-packed than the FHD+ screen on the competition. It’s also HDR10 compliant and has an always-on display technology.

The Galaxy S9 also has one of the best cameras in a smartphone today. Although it only has a single camera instead of two, its 12-megapixel shooter is better than what you might think.

It has dual pixel sensor, a variable aperture, and a ludicrous 960fps. However, OnePlus 6’s cameras are not too shabby either. It has a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual cameras, PDAF, and it can also do slow-motion — but only up to 480fps.

The Galaxy S9 also boasts dual AKG front speakers while the OnePlus 6 only has a single, bottom-firing speaker.

The OnePlus 6 might be the inferior handset between these two. But if we’ll be talking about the overall value for money, the OnePlus’ bet easily wins this thing. The company might have done compromises in some areas, but I reckon an average user would notice or even care.

The Galaxy S9 might have a better screen, but the 6.28-inch FHD+ Optic AMOLED display on the OnePlus 6 is still quite impressive, especially that it now has a notch — a visual aesthetic that people have learned to love from the iPhone X. The device also runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which is the same chipset found on other more expensive flagship smartphones today.

Also, as I stated earlier, it has a good pair of cameras on the back. The device even comes with a sharper 16-megapixel selfie camera, whilst the Galaxy S9 only has 8-megapixels.

Lastly, the OnePlus 6 comes with a bigger 3,300mAh battery compared to the Galaxy S9’s 3,000mAh. And since it will be powering a lower resolution screen, you can expect to get more juice out of it.

Samsung Galaxy S9

To wrap it up, I think the OnePlus 6 was able to continue its brand’s legacy of being the “flagship killer”. For the fraction of the price, this device can easily take on the Galaxy S9. If overall value for the money is what you want, then go with the OnePlys 6. But if you want to go all-out, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is what you’re looking for.

The OnePlus 6’s official price and availability are yet to be released. However, it does have a starting price of USD529 (~Php27,700) in the US. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S9 price starts at Php45,990.
