The global pandemic might have cancelled a lot of things, but not smartphone brands from releasing new products.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at the two new contenders in the budget category. First, we have the newly released OPPO A72. Its official price is yet to be announced, but we do expect it to arrive in the sub-Php13k price range.

The A72 is one of the new budget smartphones that OPPO released this month. It boasts a couple of interesting specs that should be enough to provide a reliable experience.

However, it’s not your only option in this category. We also have the Realme 6 Pro. Just like the former, it aims to be your top choice if you’re looking for a reliable device without breaking the bank.

Well, we have a clear winner here. The Realme 6 Pro obviously dominates the OPPO A72 in almost all areas of this specs comparison.

One of its biggest wins is in the processor department. The A72 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, which is outdated and underwhelming when compared to the Snapdragon 720G chipset that the 6 Pro have.

The Realme 6 Pro also has a smoother 90hz refresh rate, while the A72 settles for the traditional 60Hz screen. A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 was added for extra durability.

To OPPO’s credit, the A72 does have a bigger 5,000mAh battery than the 4,300mAh capacity that the Realme 6 Pro has. Although, the Realme device does come with a faster 30W charging support.

Realme also nailed the camera department on their player. There’s the 64-megapixel main shooter, versus the 48-megapixel sensor that the A72 has. There’s also the 12-mgapixel telephoto lens, while the A72 settles for a depth sensor.

Both devices do have a 2-megapixel macro sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. But, the Realme handset has an extra front camera with an ultra-wide lens for group shots.

Bottom line is, the Realme 6 Pro clearly wins this specs comparison. That’s thanks to its faster screen, powerful processor, better cameras, and fast charging support. And even if the OPPO A72 ends up cheaper, the vanilla Realme 6 would still be better in my opinion.
