OPPO just launched a new smartphone, which is the follow up to the F5 — the OPPO F7.
Just a few months after the OPPO F5’s release, the company is back again with the OPPO F7, in hopes of keeping the momentum going.
But since the two are just several months away from each other, was OPPO able to come up with enough improvements? Should you upgrade if you already own an OPPO F5? Or if you’re just a first-time OPPO user, which one should you get? All of these questions are going to be answered in our OPPO F7 and OPPO F5 specs comparison.

It looks like the few months that OPPO took to come up with a new smartphone was enough. Well, they’ve been actually doing it for years, so not much surprises there.
At its core, the new OPPO F7 came from the same molding as the F5. However, this time, OPPO did tweak and upgraded all the ingredients they used before.
Probably one of the biggest and most noticeable change can be found on the display. The F7 now brags a bigger 6.23-inch with a taller 19:9 aspect ratio. It is achieved thanks to the display notch on top. However, it is still pretty much the same resolution as its predecessor, which means that it has less pixel density.
Both devices also use a MediaTek chipset, but the OPPO F7 uses the newer Helio P60 processor, which has a dedicated core to handle AI-specific tasks.
Speaking of Artifical Intelligence (AI), the two greatly differs in the selfie department — or at least in the camera’s megapixel count. The OPPO F7 has a 25-megapixel front shooter while the OPPO F5 only has 20-megapixel. Both feature the AI Beauty mode that helps automatically adjust camera settings depending on the scenario and the user.
And lastly, the new F7 gets a doubled-down 64GB of internal storage and a slightly bigger battery — certainly welcome additions in the room of improvements.

While the new OPPO smartphone looks more appealing than the older one — it is inevitably going to be more pricey. The F7 is scheduled to be launched in the Philippines in April, however, based on its official price in India, it is estimated to come with a price around Php18,000. In contrast, the OPPO F5 retails for only Php15,990.
If the OPPO F7 will really be in the sub-Php18k price range, then I think consumers are better off with it. But if you already own an OPPO F5, there are no huge reasons to upgrade.
