Vivo has just released their newest midrange offering. The new Vivo V11, as what you might expect, has a few similarities to their sister company’s latest release, the OPPO F9.

Its most distinct feature is the FullView display. The “Halo” notch on top is exactly the same as the “Waterdrop” notch of the OPPO F9 albeit a little bit smaller.

The Vivo V11 also has one feature that is distinct to Vivo smartphones. It brags an in-display fingerprint scanner, making it a cheaper alternative to the Vivo X21 for those who really want to experience this innovative security feature.

On the other hand, the OPPO F9 also has a several interesting things to offer. The most notable one is its petal-like diamond pattern on the back, which gives it a really distinctive look. There’s also OPPO’s well-known VOOC fast-charging that refuels its 3,500mAh battery very quickly.

But other than those highlights, what does these two devices offer? Being midrange smartphones, which of them offer the best value for the price? That’s what we aim to answer in our Vivo V11 versus OPPO F9 specifications and features comparison.

It looks like both OPPO and Vivo didn’t want to step on each other’s foot with their latest releases. As you can see, both devices are very similar.

However, the Vivo V11 sure has a few extra premium features, which makes the price difference between these two justifiable.

For starters, both devices run on Android 8.1 Oreo with their own respective custom interfaces  FunTouchOS and ColorOS . They also share the same 6GB memory capacity and 64GB of expandable storage.

OPPO F9 Specs

Their front cameras use the same 25-megapixel sensor. Although the setup on the back is slightly different. The V11 has a 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual rear cameras, while the F9 has a 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup.

Considering that the secondary sensors are only used for the Portrait Mode, we think that the primary camera of the F9 is slightly better over the V11 because it’s more pixel-packed.

Moving on, the two phones also has fast-charging features. The Vivo V11 has 3,400mAh battery, with their new dual-engine quick charging technology. On the other hand, the OPPO F9 rocks a 3,500mAh battery with their proprietary VOOC fast-charging technology.

And of course, we have the processors. The V11 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset, while the F9 comes with a MediaTek Helio P60 CPU. Both chipsets are some of the best in the industry today, especially in the midrange segment.

So, what does the Vivo V11 have to cost roughly Php2,000 more? Well, it is definitely because of the in-display fingerprint scanner and Super AMOLED screen.

As you all know, not a lot of smartphones have this feature. This means that, there’s a price to pay for that exclusivity. Also, since it’s in its early stages, producing this kind of feature is still costly for Vivo.

Having an in-display fingerprint scanner also requires the device to use a Super AMOLED screen, instead of the standard IPS panel like what the OPPO F9 has. AMOLED displays offers better contrast and colors, which is a huge benefit for its users.

If you think having an in-display fingerprint scanner and a Super AMOLED screen is worth the extra cash, then going with the Vivo V11 is no-brainer. It’s going to be launched in the Philippines on September 11 and we suspect that it’s price will be near the Php19,500 converted price from India.

But if those features don’t matter to you, then settling with the OPPO F9 is the obvious route to take. It retails for a price of Php17,990 and is now available nationwide.
