With Windows 8 being officially launched in the country just a few days ago, we’re beginning to see the first onslaught of Windows 8 devices hitting the market. ASUS, being one of the global leaders in innovative computing devices, was one of the first to launch their own line of tablets, notebooks, ultraportables and all-in-one PCs, all of which were powered by the latest and greatest version of Microsoft’s popular OS, Windows 8. Of course, I was there for NoypiGeeks to tweet some photos while I grabbed some hands on time on everything from the entry-level VivoBook X202E to the huge mother of an AIO, the All-in-One PC ET2300, so if you haven’t followed me or NoypiGeeks yet, you better do!

ASUS VivoBook X202E

The VivoBook X202E is their entry-level Windows 8 laptop offering that will definitely appeal to students and young professionals who are looking for a capable, yet affordable mobile computing device on a budget. It features an 11.6″ LED backlit touchscreen with a resolution of 1366 x 768, 4GB of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. One thing that’s remarkable about this particular model is that despite only being an 11.6 incher, you get a larger trackpad that is comparable in size to the ones you get on 14″ laptops. You can get the VivoBook X202E in either an Intel Celeron or Core i3 Ivy Bridge configuration. What I really like about the VivoBook X202E is the price. The Celeron configuration can be yours for just Php20,995 while the more capable Core i3 version is still quite affordable at Php26,995.

Not only do you get a larger 14″ LED backlit touchscreen at a resolution of 1366 x 768, up to 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, and a 500GB hard drive coupled with a 24GB SSD. You get a faster Core i5 Ivy Bridge Ultrabook Processor under the hood to power everything up, and it’s yours for Php35,995.

Last in the relatively traditional notebook lineup is the latest in the iconic line of Zenbooks, the Zenbook UX31A comes with a 13.3″ Full HD IPS screen, 4GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. Everything is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor under the hood. Of course, Zenbooks have never been just about the specs, as many of the same design principles of the original Zenbooks have been carried over into the Zenbook UX31A, such as the spun-metal look and a slender design that goes from 18mm at its thickest point to just 3mm at its thinnest. What’s more is that you also have the option to get it with capacitive multi-touch so you can maximize the capabilities of Windows 8. The Zenbook UX31A Touch’s price isĀ Php76,995.
