Despite the controversy that followed its canceled poll, the E-Palarong Pambansa has finally come up with a game roster that will be part of the momentous event.

In an announcement, E-Palarong Pambansa revealed the criteria for the choice as “popularity, accessibility, player base, and platform compatibility”—hinting strongly at prominence as being the primary driver for the decision.

Divided into two categories—mobile and PC games—the following titles were chosen:

PC Games

Mobile

Before the pronouncement, E-Palarong Pambansa rolled out polls, asking various gaming communities to vote on their preferred game of choice in the said event. However, a sign of cheating—particularly, the artificial manipulation of page reactions—eventually led to the cancellation of the survey.

Soon after word about the irregularity came out, it was revealed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG): Battlegrounds and its mobile counterpart appear to be the subjects of suspicion, presumed to be massively boosted by bot accounts.

Although, at a glance, the case finds the PC version of PUBG indefensible, the same cannot be said the same as true with PUBG Mobile. Presumably, the issue around the influence of bots is false.

By undermining the community consensus, public outrage took place among the various gaming communities. Largely, among the League of Legends: Wild Rift fan base who threatened to boycott and report the E-Palarong Pambansa page.

Adding to the contention, E-Palarong Pambansa is accused of giving up the results of the polls for wanting to include MLBB in the list, despite the game performing poorly on the community-led survey.

Acknowledging the public uproar, E-Palarong Pambansa promised to take necessary steps to prevent a similar case in the future as it also creates opportunities for Filipino gamers.
