iPad-Pro-2018

Apple is still seeing tons of potential on tablet computers, a motivation that we can clearly see on the new iPad Pros.

The new iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9 2018 models shave been upgraded in a major way. Right off the bat, you can already appreciate the work that Apple did with their new design. The company is going with the all-screen route here. But unlike the new iPhones, Apple is sparing us the annoying display notch.

To do this, Apple has to completely remove the TouchID, resulting in noticeable thinner bezels. To compensate, the new iPad Pros now sports Apple’s Face ID technology and will adopt the iPhones’ gesture controls.

Going back to the screen, both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models come with Liquid Retina Displays — the same panel we saw on the iPhone XR. They also sport a 120Hz ProMotion technology for extreme responsiveness and smooth frame-rates, and a color-accurate screen that’s perfect for content creators.

Speaking of which, the new iPad Pros can run a desktop version of Adobe Photoshop CC, with an optimized interface for touchscreens. This is all thanks to its A12X Bionic Chip and a 7-core GPU. Apple is even claiming that its graphics performance is comparable to the Xbox One S, which means that you can definitely game on this thing.

To showcase how powerful this thing is, Apple pulled out a large 3GB Photoshop file with a 12000 x 12000 pixel resolution during their presentation. The file consists of 170 layers, and the new iPad Pros handled it without breaking a sweat.

And if you really like to take your work with you, both iPad Pro models are configurable with up to a 1TB of storage.

Moreover, the company also brought some drastic improvements to the Apple Pencil. This accessory now has touch controls and attaches to the new iPad Pros using magnets. And the interesting part is, it automatically charges it by doing so.

Apple removed the Lightning port on the Pencil because the new iPad Pros doesn’t have it either. Starting with the 2018 models, iPads will finally utilize the USB Type-C implementation. This means that you can connect the device directly to a compatible monitor, import the files from your camera or external hard drive, and experience all the other benefits of USB Type-C.
