The Snapdragon 865 SoC is getting a successor in the form of Snapdragon 865 Plus that offers improvement over the company’s current top-tier products, especially in gaming and 5G connectivity. In addition, the new hardware is also set for expanded coverage of supported devices, particularly new ones.
Drawing from its bolstered Snapdragon Elite Gaming capability, the SoC promises “desktop-quality gaming” experience, stemming from its updateable GPU driver, True 10-bit HDR gaming, and seamless gameplay at 144 FPS.

While the 5G experience is nuanced by factors such as geography and quality of service, it, however, guarantees global support on key areas as well as frequency bands. This all-encompassing feature takes root in Qualcomm’s X55 5G modem in the SoC.
Designed to be the superior hardware, the Snapdragon 865 Plus reportedly has better performance over Kryo 585, Adreno 650, and Fast Connect 6900 in their respective department.
A list of devices that will come pre-installed with Snapdragon 865 Plus is yet to be revealed later in the year. However, we do know that Lenovo’s Legion and ASUS’ ROG Phone 3 will be among those in the list.
