Whereas Netflix upon losing subscribers makes the baffling decision to bring ads and add fees, Amazon Prime Video is doing the opposite here in the Philippines. A subscription now only costs Php149 a month, down by Php100.

It seems that Amazon Prime Video is the outlier, as other major competitors in the video streaming service have or will also increase their subscription rates. HBO GO, for instance, will charge Php199 per month, up from Php149. Stateside, Disney Plus recently raised prices from $7.99 to $10.99 a month as well as introducing an ad-supported tier.

Amazon Prime Video is home to many exclusive shows and movies that enjoy positive reception from critics and viewers alike. These include the superhero show The Boys, fantasy comedy series Good Omens, and comedy drama The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

The video streaming service will also amplify its presence in the Philippines by means of local shows, starting in 2023 with an improved comedy challenge show called Comedy Island: Philippines.

If these shows are binge-worthy to you, better subscribe while Amazon Prime Video is still on its Php149 per month introductory price, with a 7-day free trial to get you started. The video streaming service will return to its former regular price by the end of the year.
