Part of the provinces of Cavite and Batangas are soon to find an easier link following a signed agreement between San Miguel Holdings Inc. and the Cavite LGU; giving life to the Php27 billion project, the Cavite-Batangas Expressway (CBEx).
The joint venture, which was signed on February 27, established the full width of the project’s scope, ranging from financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the 27.06-kilometer-long toll road.
Long enough to cover Cavite’s multiple locations, it traverses Silang, Amadeo, Tagaytay, lndang, Mendez, Alfonso, and the one and only Nasugbu in Batangas.

Although on paper, the San Miguel-led program appears to facilitate easy travel between Cavite and Batangas, the real agenda is about establishing a faster route for transporting people and goods between Metro Manila and the Calabarzon region.
Meanwhile, a similar proposal to connect the aforementioned provinces was also made in 2018 by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), but with the proposition to build the connection via Tagaytay.
The Department of Public Works and Highways has granted the project, paving the way for a 50.43-kilometer tollway scheme that is the Cavite-Tagaytay-Batangas Expressway (CTBEx).
