It’s been a while since local tech brand Cherry Mobile launched a proper midrange smartphone.

Their last and principal release was the Cherry Mobile Aqua S9 Max. It’s the brand’s last top-tier smartphone powered by an Helio G90T processor, 6.53-inch screen, quad rear cameras, and a 5,130mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It was launched back in November 2020. You can learn more about it in our full review.

About half a year later, the company has released a teaser video of an upcoming phone release, which you can watch above. Considering the hype that Cherry Mobile tries to build on this thing, this could be a follow up to the Aqua S9 Max.

Sadly, the teaser doesn’t provide much hint about the device, other than it would feature four cameras on the back.

A couple of fans on the comment section speculates that this could finally be the local brand’s first 5G phone.

If you remember, MediaTek confirmed back in September 2020 that they will be powering Cherry Mobile’s first 5G phone. Considering the 5G devices we have now in the Philippines, it could sport a Dimensity 700 chip like what the Realme 8 5G has, or the Dimensity 720 of the Galaxy A32 5G.

To keep up with the times, it should also have a high refresh rate screen, at least at 90Hz. We shall have more details about this mystery device in the coming weeks.
