At long last, we might finally see the much-awaited successor to the iPhone SE as reports suggest that the iPhone 9 has entered trial production status.
This latest rumor was sparked by sources from Chinese suppliers and producers that will be making the rumored iPhone 9. They are saying that the upcoming budget iPhone has finally entered trial production — right in time as it’s expected to go on full-on mass production later this month.
UPDATE: Apple’s new budget iPhone is now official.
People from the supply chain said that Apple will make a whopping order of more than 30 million iPhone 9 units. It’s expected to launch sometime in March.
The budget iPhone will help Apple to finally reach emerging markets. A recent study says that, despite Apple having the most market share, value-oriented brands like Xiaomi still has the most smartphone shipment growth.
To pull this off, Apple needs to price the iPhone 9 in the sub-Php20k category. This is highly possible since the iPhone SE had an original starting price of Php23,590 in the Philippines.
For a quick recap, the iPhone 9 is expected to inherit the body and design of the iPhone 8. It will then come with newer and more powerful hardware, possibly the same processor that the iPhone 11 models have.
