The new flagship smartphone of Nokia bearing Windows Phone 8 was officially announced and it’s called as Nokia Lumia 920. The Lumia 920 brings in a great set of features which are very admirable. Well, it does need it because it will be competing with Android’s heavyweights and iPhone 5 is just a week away from being revealed. Does the Nokia Lumia 920 have what it takes? Lets break it down into pieces for a more detailed look.

Is Nokia going down the rocks? Nah, it looks far from over because as we can see, this Finnish mobile manufacturer still has those tricks to pull off a great device. Also, their recent tie-up with Microsoft will surely buy them a few more years to bring up the empire they once had. But first, they need to survive the Android and iOS war.

Features

The most noticeable feature of the Nokia Lumia 920 is probably the PureView camera – but no, we will not be seeing the 41MP shooter here. Instead, the 920 will carry a 8MP with an outstanding F/2.0 Carl Zeiss lens, best in class low-light performance, and image stabilization. It is said that it can capture an image with 5x – 10x more light against other smartphones. Nokia Lumia 920 can also shoot vivid images with little to no blur at all thanks to its powerful lens.

Here’s a video about the camera but it was confirmed that it was not from the Nokia Lumia 920. I wonder why? Be careful, Nokia. Tons of people’s were now ranting about this on youtube.

The Nokia Lumia 920 features a 4.5-inch  PureMotion HD+ display with a 1280×728 pixel resolution and Nokia claims that this can insanely render up to 25 percent better natural light performance against its competitors which results to an enriched outside viewing experience. Also, Nokia said that Lumia 920 has a quick refresh rate and “super sensitive touch” which means the scrolling will be buttery smooth and blur-free.

It seems like Nokia got a gem right here. They’ve put all the necessary ingredients for a great smartphone and the performance is now in the hands of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8. This device will eventually square off with the Samsung Ativ S when they both hit the market.

The Nokia Lumia 920 will be available by fourth quarter of 2012. I’ll update this post once we hear details on its price and availability in the Philippines.

UPDATE: It’s now available for Php26,990.
