One of the highlights during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) are the showcasing of the foldable smartphone models. And apparently, OPPO is also joining the party.

While Samsung’s got Galaxy Fold and Huawei with their Mate X, OPPO also reveals their take on today’s unique designs. However, this one looks more like a teaser-slash-concept, instead of being a market-ready one.

The photos were revealed by OPPO vice president, Brian Shen’s personal Weibo page. We could see that OPPO’s foldable design looks very identical to the Huawei Mate X.

There is a large OLED panel that wraps around both sides of the phone when folded (instead of just being folded away on the inside). There’s also a thicker bar on one side which contains the camera and other features.

Shen says that the company has no plans yet to ship the prototype unless it’s on demand, but he did invite customer feedback to help them decide on doing mass production of this smartphone.

Anyway, this kind of technology is still in its early stages. We can expect a lot of features, tweaks, updates, and design and user experience improvements in the coming years.
