Realme-8-Review-NoypiGeeks-5913

Virtual RAM expansion is a new trend in the smartphone world today. The best part is, it’s not exclusive to brand-new devices as it can be seeded to existing phones via software update. Two devices that will be getting this feature are the Realme 8 and 8 Pro.

Once the Realme 8 and 8 Pro gets the Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) feature, users can virtually increase the RAM capacity by borrowing space from the internal storage.

Once the feature arrives via a software update, users can head to the Settings > About phone > RAM menu. No word yet what options will be given on these devices. For reference, users of the Realme X7 Pro 5G with a physical 8GB/12GB RAM were given a choice to add 3GB, 5GB, or 7GB of virtual memory.

It looks like the Realme 8 and 8 5G will first get the update. It should also arrive in the 8 Pro model, but no exact date has been provided yet.

The DRE feature will arrive on the version RMX3085_11.A.19. update. This update will also feature performance optimization and stability, fixes issues in the photos apps, and adds the July 2021 Android security patch.

An admin at the Realme Philippines Community Facebook group confirmed that it is now available on a select number of users in India and will then be available here in the country “very soon”.
