We’ve already seen the low-end Redmi Go, the entry-level Redmi Note 7, and the powerful midranger, the Redmi Note 7 Pro. But apparently, Xiaomi’s sub-brand is almost ready to come up with a flagship smartphone.

Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing, has confirmed that they are going to release a handset that which is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

However, he has also debunked the rumor that the upcoming phone will sport a pop-up camera and has a ‘Redmi Pro 2’ moniker. Based on the leaks that appeared online a couple of months back, Redmi’s upcoming smartphone will feature a pop-up camera, similar to Vivo V15 Pro, OPPO F11 Pro, and more.

However, according to Redmi, the leaks are not true as they won’t be releasing a phone with the specifications that have been circulating online. From Weibing’s posts on his Weibo page, it can be seen that they are working and planning the specs of the upcoming device.

We can’t say if this is a change of plans or releasing a handset with a pop-up camera is not included in their strategy.

With this, we can’t also say if the upcoming handset will be called Redmi Pro 2. The GM of Redmi has not been releasing any information about the name of the device.

When it comes to price, there’s no available information as well. But, it is said to be released in India and China only.
