Vivo’s iQOO sub-brand continues to grow with the imminent release of the Vivo iQOO 5.

In an announcement made on their official Weibo page, the company confirmed that the Vivo iQOO 5 will launch in China on August 17 at 2:30 PM (UTC+08).

It’s the first smartphone to sport the company’s 120W Super FlashCharge, which can fully charge a 4,000mAh battery from 0% to 100% in only 15 minutes.

iQOO was able to achieve this feat by splitting the battery into two 2,000mAh cells, with each cell receiving 60W of power, to avoid any overheating issues that could possibly blow-up the phone.

The iQOO 5 is also confirmed to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship processor. It’s quite odd that they didn’t go with the new Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, just like what new gaming phones such as the ROG Phone 3 and Lenovo Legion Phone Duel has.

Complimenting the speedy processor is the LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It should also have an AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner, least 120Hz of refresh rate, or 144Hz just like the iQOO Z1 5G. A punch-hole for the selfie camera, triple shooters on the back, and liquid cooling should be inevitable, too. We’ll have the full details once it’s out in the coming days, so stay tuned for that.
