vivo y69 face unlock update

The Vivo Y69 has been around since September of last year. Now, Vivo is making the device even more exciting with a new software update.

The update brings the Face Unlock security feature to the Vivo Y69. It’s nothing groundbreaking, as it’s something that we already saw on a lot of devices today.

Implementing the Face Unlock feature on an Android device isn’t really a difficult task for manufacturers like Vivo especially when they have already implemented it on their previous smartphones.

Unlike the Face ID on the iPhone X, the Vivo Y69 will only utilize its 16-megapixel front camera to do the scanning. This kind of implementation has been present in other devices like the OPPO F5 and Vivo’s V7. Recently, Huawei also released a software update for the Nova 2i to offer the same functionality.

Based on our reviews of these devices, we can definitely say that their facial recognition feature works surprisingly well. But since they don’t have other complex sensors like a night-seeing infrared camera, it does struggle in pitch-black rooms at times.

This is a very welcome update for existing Vivo Y69 users or those who are currently planning to get the device. The update is now available via OTA (over-the-air) update on the smartphone’s settings menu.

If you’re planning on getting one, the Vivo Y69 is available nationwide and retails for a price of Php10,990. You can check out the full specifications of the Vivo Y69 here.
