Making things faster is one of the things the tech industry is obsessed with. From speedy processors, fluid screens, and of course, charging.
We’re still far from having batteries that last long. To make up for it, tech companies are trying to improve the charging speeds for smartphones and other mobile devices.

Probably the fastest we currently have is 65W wired charging on devices such as the Mi 10 Pro and Realme X50 Pro 5G. The batteries on these devices might only last for a day, but at least you can fill it up to 100% for only under an hour.
But other than the ultra-fast wired charging technologies, we’re also seeing major advancements in the wireless-charging world.
This latest one is from Xiaomi. They showcased the Xiaomi 40W wireless charging technology in a demo video on its official YouTube channel.
The demo used the Mi 10 Pro with a 4,000mAh as the test subject. From 0% charge, the battery reached 57% in just 20 minutes and a full 100% charge in just 40 minutes.

A 40W charger sure is fast, even for a wired solution. You can also notice that the charger is standing up. Possibly for better airflow and to prevent overheating.
The demoed 40W wireless charger is still a prototype. Hopefully, we’ll see it on a market-ready product soon, alongside the Xiaomi 100W Super Charge Turbo that they also demoed way back in April 2019.
