It looks like Xiaomi is preparing a new smartphone with an interesting design.

The company has filed a patent at the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), which lets them secure the ownership of what seems to be a smartphone design with curved edges all around.

It will have a four-curved edge screen. To give you a perspective, imagine the Samsung Galaxy S9 and its curved side edges — but this time, with those curves stretching from the top and bottom side. It’s actually what we thought the Vivo APEX 2019 would look like when they teased it before the official reveal.

Despite the curve, there’s still the USB port on the bottom. The port is placed on the bottom piece of the back panel, right above the curved glass. This might mean that the device would be slightly thicker than usual.

There are also no buttons visible on the sides, so it may incorporate capacitive ones like what the Meizu Zero has. No signs of how Xiaomi will put a front-facing camera, either, so a punch-hole or a pop-up implementation should be possible. Although a dual-camera setup on the back.

However, since this is the first time we’re seeing this, nothing is really sure right now. But what we know is Xiaomi is working on a pretty exciting smartphone design, and we can’t wait to see what final product they come up with.
