Manufacturers refuse to believe that the tablet era is dead. After the release of the MediaPad 3 in April, a tablet called to be the Huawei MediaPad 5 is already circling around the rumor mill.

According to the reports, it looks like the company is indeed skipping the number 4 as per the Chinese tradition. Hence, their upcoming high-end tablet will come as the Huawei MediaPad 5.

Under the model number SHT-W09 and SHT-AL09, the MediaPad 5 is expected to have Huawei’s own Kirin 960 chipset — the same brain found on the Mate 9, their flagship smartphone last year, and the recently released Nova 2s.

The leaked details also suggest that it will sport an 8.4-inch display which has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. It will also have Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE Cat.4, a fingerprint scanner, and it will run on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo.

And besides the specs, it looks like the company is making the premium design a top priority for the MediaPad line.

The official launch date is yet to be known. But if we were to speculate about the price, we can expect it to range somewhere in the neighborhood of Php20,000, considering that the MediaPad M3 retailed for Php18,990 when it launched in the Philippines.
