We’re still around two months away before September for the IFA 2017 in Berlin. But just like most tech conventions, leaks and rumors about upcoming products would circulate ahead of the actual event. And this time, we’re hearing about he bezel-less Sony smartphone debut.

The rumor ignited on a Chinese website called Weibo. As per the post, it looks like the Sony bezel-less smartphone will feature a 6-inch screen, with an 18:9 aspect ratio. This ultra-narrow screen shape was popularized by LG’s current flagship, the G6.

Sony was able to achieve this marvel thanks to JDI Display — a joint venture of top Japanese technology brands which consists of Toshiba, Hitachi, and Sony themselves.

JDI announced last month that mass production of their Full Active LCD Display has already begun. This new panel requires complex wiring techniques and new assembly technologies to achieve its ultra-thin and bezel-less characteristics.

But other than the screen, that’s everything we know so far about this rumored device. Until we hear an official word from Sony, or see a more solid evidence of the handset’s existence, take this rumor with a grain of salt.
