For the last five years, PLDT has held the title of having the fastest broadband internet in the Philippines by topping the Ookla Speedtest Award. But, for the second half of 2024, they’ve been dethroned by Converge ICT.
Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence data for the second half of 2023 found that Converge ICT has the fastest broadband internet in the Philippines, and has also dominated different categories: Best Internet Video Experience, Best Internet Gaming Experience, and Top-Rated Internet in the Philippines.
The data used by Ookla are from user-initiated speed tests.
As per the data, Converge’s internet speeds for Q3 and Q4 of 2023 topped at 457.56Mbps, higher than the national top speeds of 356.19Mbps. With that, Converge got an Ookla Speed Score of 123.18, PLDT Home Fiber comes second with 119.98, while Globe is still in last place at 88.5.

Converge also dominated Ookla’s gaming and video awards. The company got a Game Score of 88.27, three points higher than PLDT’s 85.84. A similar lead is seen in the Game Scores where Converge garnered 86.58 and PLDT 83.23.

Converge is also considered the top-rated ISP in the Philippines with a rating of 3.6, marginally beating Globe at 3.5.
We’re curious to see if Converge ICT can keep its lead on the next Speedtest awards or if PLDT will regain the title. At the end of the day, it’s the consumers who will benefit from this kind of competition.
