First impressions – Zenfone 3
Hands down, this is definitely the most stunning and well-built Zenfone device that Asus have ever crafted. The company was able to cope up with today’s smartphone design trend, which is the incorporation of glass and metal in the construction. The unit we have here is probably the most premium looking of all, we have the Gold variant of course.
Also, another new on the Zenfone 3 is the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner. Which works quite well in my initial testing. I also liked that the device is now significantly thinner than its predecessors. The ASUS Zenfone 2 was just a bulky device in my opinion.
We also have a large 5.5” display in front, with a Super IPS+ panel. And I must say, it looks like an OLED screen at first glance. Another first is the USB Type-C port at the bottom, so we can say that thing is in the right direction for the future, but this also means that I need to be extra careful on not damaging the included USB cable, as it is still not widely available in the market today.
And at the back, of course, we also have the 16-Megapxiel Sony sensor with 6-element lens that is protected with sapphire glass, which ASUS is really proud about, and that makes me really excited to test out in the course of my full review process.
