AnTuTu’s monthly best-performing Android phones list just got its May 2021 edition.
This month’s list is quite different as it’s from the latest Android version 9, which has additional GPU tests (Vulkan included), redesigned tests for CPU, storage, memory, and UX. The score isn’t exactly comparable to version 8. Still, the scores and rankings are pretty much identical.
As you can see, Qualcomm’s current top-dog chip, the Snapdragon 888, dominated the list. All of the top-ten Android phones in China are powered by the same CPU, with at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Pro is still on top with a score of 830,022. The device’s high memory score is what boosted it on top.
Taking the second spot is another gaming phone, the Red Magic 6 Pro, which was able to have consistent high-frequency speeds thanks to its built-in cooling fans.
The long-time top-notcher, the OPPO Find X3 Pro, fell to the fourth spot, with the OnePlus 9 Pro above it.
The rest of the devices on last month’s list are gaming phones. There’s the Vivo iQOO 7 at number 6, ASUS ROG Phone 5 at the 8th spot, and the Realme GT at number 9. Sadly, talked-about devices like the Lenovo Legion Phone 2 Duel didn’t make the list.
Qualcomm may have swept the flagship list, but it’s a mixed-bag in the AnTuTu top-performing midrange devices.
Since these are devices from China, many Huawei devices powered by the in-house Kirin chips are on the list. There are also two MediaTek devices in there.
Still, Qualcomm dominated the list with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G at number one thanks to the Snapdragon 780G. The Snapdragon 768G helped the iQOO Z3 to take the third spot. We also have the Snapdragon 750G and trusty 765G putting the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Reno 5 5G take the eight and ninth spots, respectively.
MediaTek only put two devices on the list. There’s the Redmi Note 10X 5G on the second spot and the Redmi Note 9 5G on the tenth spot.
The number four to seven spots are all Huawei devices, with three of them sporting the Kirin 985 chip and one Kirin 820.
This midrange list may change drastically as Dimensity 900-powered phones are expected to arrive later this month.
