OPPO Philippines just announced that they will be bringing their latest Reno line-up here in the country.

And before you say anything — No, this is not the liver spread. Although it’s still not clear what “Reno” actually means. It sure is not derived from Reno, Nevada. But a quick web search reveal that it may be an informal term for the word “Renovation”.

Renovation actually kind of make sense to describe OPPO’s newest family of devices. If you haven’t seen it yet, even at least on the pictures, both the latest OPPO Reno and Reno 10X has a brand-new design that’s different from their brothers.

Both models also have a set of features that are a step up from the previous OPPO devices that we’ve seen before.

The main difference between the OPPO Reno and Reno 10X is obvious — the price. And with that, we shall understand why the vanilla version has toned-down specs over the latter.

Understandably, the Reno only comes with a Snapdragon 710 oca-core processor, while the Reno 10X has a flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset. Thankfully, both models come with fast UFS 2.1 storage, albeit non-expandable.

The two also share the same 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 primary camera. However, as the name suggests, the Reno 10X has a better camera system over the standard model.

It brags a 13-megapixel sensor with a periscope-style lens, which can give up to a 10X of clear hybrid zoom. There’s also the extra 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens and two OIS systems. Meanwhile, the former only gets to have a 5-megapixel depth-camera.

OPPO is also taunting the devices’ unique pop-up cameras. Instead of using the same mechanism we saw on the F11 Pro or the Find X, the company introduced the sharks-fin design on the Reno devices. Both of which are carrying a 16-megapixel selfie snapper.

Both the displays on the OPPO Reno and Reno 10X are identical. They come with FHD+ AMOLED panels with a fingerprint scanner built underneath the screen.

The only difference is, the 10X model is slightly bigger at 6.6-inches, which allowed OPPO to put in a bigger 4,064mAh battery. While the Reno is only at 6.4-inches and comes with a 3,765mAh battery.

They also come with VOOC 3.0 charging, so you can easily top them off back to 100% in only around an hour.

It’s also worth noting that both devices, even the cheaper model, comes with a sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, USB Type-C port, and runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.

Their prices are something to be expected. The vanilla OPPO Reno starts at CNY2,999 (~Php23,200) while the Reno 10X begins at CNY3,999 (~Php30,800).

Both of their Philippine prices and availability details are yet to be announced. Those are something that we expect to learn once they make their local debut in the coming weeks. But you can expect that their official SRP will be close to their direct peso conversions.
