Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has finally announced their flagship smartphone.
The new Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is the first device from Redmi to come with high-end specs. And staying true to their DNA, it will also come with a really appealing price tag. Think of it as the Pocophone F1 for 2019.
But if you want something affordable, the brand also announced the Xiaomi Redmi K20, a device that poses some midrange specs, but has features that are still way ahead of its competition.
However, the K20 Pro was priced so aggressively that it’s almost close to the K20’s SRP. With that, here in our Xiaomi Redmi K20 vs K20 Pro specs comparison, we shall see if you should settle for the more affordable version, or splurge a little more and get the flagship model instead.

The Xiaomi Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are pretty much the same device. They even have the same exact dimensions and weight. They should look and feel relatively identical in the hands.
What the company did was to tone down some of the key parts of the device to make the vanilla K20 model more affordable.
For starters, there are the processors used. The Xiaomi Redmi K20 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor, which is still capable enough, but not as powerful as the flagship Snapdragon 855 processor that the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro model has.
Since it has a more hardworking processor, the Redmi K20 Pro comes with a water-cooling system so it always run on top condition after hours of gaming. Overheating shouldn’t be an issue, either.
To fully utilize its prowess, the Snapdragon 855 processor can be bundled with up to 8GB of memory, while the Snapdragon 730 is stuck with 6GB. On the upside, both models do come with a fast UFS 2.1 storage, although it’s not expandable.
Both the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro may have an identical camera system at first look, but the latter does actually have a better primary shooter. It uses a more advanced Sony IMX 586 sensor, while the former comes with a Sony IMX 582.

Another key reason to consider the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is its 27W charging support. That is obviously faster than the 18W on the non-Pro model.
But that’s where their differences end. Both models come with the same 6.39-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. There’s also the large 4,000mAh battery, Game Turbo 2.0, and a 20-megapixel pop-up selfie camera.
I guess all that’s left to discuss is the price. The vanilla K20 starts at CNY1,999 (~Php15,100), while the K20 Pro begins at CNY2,499 (~Php18,900). As you can see, the price difference is really minimal especially when you consider what you’re getting.
For a few thousands more, you’re already getting a smartphone that has a Snapdragon 855 processor and a flagship-level camera.
Itts official price and availability details in the Philippines is yet to be announced. However, we expect the K20 Pro to be priced at under Php20k. This makes it as one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone around.
