After being beaten up by Chinese brands, Samsung has finally fought back and released the Galaxy M series. This new line-up will try to offer value-oriented smartphones that the South Korean company hopes to go against Xiaomi and other emerging competitions.
The company is starting with the Samsung Galaxy M10 and Samsung Galaxy M20. Initially launched in India, these two devices aim to capture the hearts of the millennials who are looking for a smartphone that can cater to their demanding needs, without breaking the bank.
As you all know, mobile gaming has become extremely popular these days, thanks to titles like Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, and more. So, it’s important that these devices have capable processors.
The market’s demand for a better camera, long battery life, and great design have also increased over the years. If Samsung wants the Galaxy M series to be successful, they should have all these areas covered.
Obviously, the Galaxy M20 is the more premium option than the Galaxy M10. Here in our comparison, we will also see the key differences between these two, and which between them is right one for you.

Samsung has finally figured it out. As what you’ve seen above, the new Samsung Galaxy M10 and M20 are unlike any other entry-level smartphones that the company has ever released in the past.
Both devices deliver a more compelling set of specs and features for the price, which Samsung really needs to take on Xiaomi, Honor, and other brands that are trying to climb up the ladder.
The interesting part is, Samsung did some reasonable compromises to make the cheaper Galaxy M10 a viable option over the more expensive (but still relatively cheap) Galaxy M20.
For one, it still sports a large 6.22-inch screen with Samsung’s Infinity-V notch. However, you have to bear its lower resolution HD+ screen.
The toned-down processor is pretty acceptable, too. It’s powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7870 chipset, while the latter has the more capable Exynos 7904 chip. To set them apart, the M10 comes with 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB flavors, while the M20 has more with 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB configurations.
Samsung also did an understandable compromise in the battery and camera departments. The Galaxy M20 has an enormous 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging capability. On the other hand, the Galaxy M10 has a respectable 3,400mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy M10 is equipped with a 5-megapixel selfie camera, which is obviously inferior to the 8-megapixel sensor of the Galaxy M20. On the upside, both models have the same 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual rear cameras.
If we were to nitpick, we wish that Samsung kept the fingerprint scanner and the USB Type-C port of the M20 on the M10. Also, the Android 8.1 Oreo OS that they ship with feels outdated. Although Samsung claims that the Samsung Experience v9.5 that they come with was really optimized for these devices.
But other than that, we commend Samsung for their latest attempt to bring back the consumer’s attention. W’re not sure if these devices can beat the competitors like the Redmi Note 7 and the Honor 10 Lite, but Samsung is definitely going in the right direction.
The Samsung Galaxy M10 price starts at INR7,990 (~Php5,900) for the 2GB/16GB model, while the Samsung Galaxy M20 begins at INR10,990 (~Php8,100). Both models will be available in India starting February 5.
