Some $7 million in sales was generated by Pinoy game developers following the world gaming event, Gamescom, with a potential of $20 million more underway for the country’s budding gaming industry, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Per DTI Export Marketing Bureau Director Bianca Pearl Sykimte, the agency is acknowledging the contribution of creative services to the growth of the local economy, particularly in producing high-value revenue in addition to job opportunities for Filipinos.
The Philippine companies that managed to close the sales were the same commercial enterprises that took part in Gamescom 2023, which was held in Cologne, Germany from August 23 to August 25, 2023.
Namely, these companies were Ranida Games, Razer Gold, Taktyl Studios, Emottoons Animation Studios, Fizzbuzz Inc., Pixel Mafia Ltd., Yang Yang Mobile, Startrace Studios OPC, Animation Vertigo, GameOps Inc., and Buko Studios.

To foster partnerships and collaborations, key gaming organizations made their presence during the Gamescom 2023 where business-to-business networking and networking were held involving participants.
Furthermore, international gaming community members and country delegates were also pivotal in sharing market insights, fads, as well as best practices within the European region.
Sykimte said that the DTI shares and backs the country’s developing game development industry for it to further grow and burgeon in the international markets, including Europe.
With optimism about the Philippines’ status in the gaming industry, she said that the nation is strategically placed to be a “leading hub for game development” in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region by 2028.
To foster that belief, the DTI is teaming up with key partners to enable Filipino companies to attain their commercial goals, grow local talent, open more employment opportunities, and contribute to economic growth.
