Users have one new choice for a fiber broadband provider when planning to get Internet access for their homes, as Cignal TV and Meralco-backed Radius Telecoms have launched a new partnership called RED Broadband.
In a press statement, Radius Telecoms claims to be the sole Philippine telecoms carrier to deliver services on an end-to-end fiber optic platform. With such infrastructure, its RED Broadband service claims to be the most reliable provider in the broadband market.
Unlimited fiber internet plans under RED Broadband start at ₱1,299 per month. Pay TV services are also bundled with the plans.

RED Broadband’s entry to the market is timely, as demand for Internet services at home has significantly risen due to the global health issue. The service may also help with Internet availability across the country. According to the World Bank, only 40 percent of Philippine households have Internet access.
Both Cignal TV and Meralco are controlled by telecoms tycoon Manny Pangilinan through his holding companies. The former is a direct-to-home satellite provider with 130 channels, while the latter is the largest private electric distribution utility company in the country.
Pangilinan, who is also the PLDT chairman, withdrew his bid earlier this month to acquire Sky Cable, a direct competitor to RED Broadband.
