In a support alert from Samsung, the giant tech company announced that they will discontinue the S Voice Assistant.

This AI-powered smart assistant was first introduced in 2012 as the company’s first contender against Apple’s Siri. The note states that it will no longer be available for use starting June 1, 2020.

As the grandfather of Bixby, Samsung did not take much pride with the S Voice Assistant as it possessed limited capabilities compared to its competitors. That’s the reason why it’s no longer a surprise that they decided to cease its operation. We can say that it was subtly replaced with the launch of Bixby along with the Galaxy S8 three years ago

Among the models that will be affected are those with the S Voice icon on the apps screen, namely:

  • Galaxy A7
  • Galaxy A8
  • Galaxy A3
  • Galaxy A5
  • Galaxy A9
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note 3
  • Galaxy Note 2
  • Galaxy Note FE
  • Galaxy Note 5
  • Galaxy S7
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Galaxy S5
  • Galaxy S7 Edge
  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S3
  • Galaxy S4
  • Gear S2
  • Gear S3
  • Gear S
  • Galaxy Watch
  • Gear Sport
  • Galaxy Watch Active

Consequently, if you cannot let go of an assistant, you may replace the S Voice with the cutting-edge Google Assistant for Android to provide your AI needs.
