In January, BPI sent out notifications to its users via the BPI Mobile app that they will be increasing the charge for GCash loading. Now, the company has made that official announcement to their social media pages as its implementation comes near.
For those who haven’t heard, loading your GCash account via the BPI app’s “Load e-Wallet” service will now cost you a Php10.00 fee — a feature that used to be free. This will take effect this Friday, March 1. The fee is standard, no matter the amount of the transaction.

Now, there’s almost no way you can transfer funds to your GCash account from BPI. But, as a tip, the cheapest method is cashing in from your GCash app using your linked BPI account. This will only cost you Php5.00. GCash started charging such fees in October, along with linked UnionBank accounts.
The said Php10.00 can be a burden, especially for users who are only transferring small amounts. Hopefully, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) proposal to waive transaction fees under Php1,000 will push through.
