Cherry Mobile’s monthly Facebook Live show gets really exciting every new episode. Last month’s installment of the Cherry Mobile Show caught our attention because of the mystery Cherry Mobile selfie device that was shown by Kim Chiu.
In the latest September episode, Cherry Mobile is at it again by officially teasing their upcoming flagship, the Cherry Mobile Flare S6 and S6 Plus.
As the show was rolling, Vince Vicente, a member of the company’s product development team, said that they will be officially launching the new Cherry Mobile Flare S6 and S6 Plus on October 12.
Furthermore, Vicente also stated that the two will rock a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, which the company calls as the TrueView screen. The incorporation of a tall display on the upcoming Cherry Mobile isn’t really that surprising.
UPDATE
If you haven’t noticed it by now, 18:9 screens instantly became a trend in the smartphone industry. Just recently, we saw the Vivo’s V7+ adopt the same screen design. Both the new Huawei Maimang 6 and Doogee Mix 2 also has the same-looking display — all of which are in the midrange category.

But other than that small but important detail, Cherry Mobile hasn’t revealed anything yet. If I were to guess, we can expect it to also have ultra-thin or almost non-existent bezels. Almost all 18.9 devices have this look, plus, Cherry Mobile has already done it in the past with the Flare Infinity.
Moreover, we can also expect the Flare S6 and S6 Plus to be priced on the neighborhood of Php10k. Considering that both its predecessors, the Flare S5 and S5 Plus, had an introductory price of not more than Php9k.
The new Flare devices can also go for more than Php10k if Cherry Mobile decided to include both an 18:9 screen and a dual-camera setup in one device.
But nonetheless, we’ll just have to wait for Cherry Mobile’s official word on October 12.
