If you’re thinking of trying out something new apart from the good old iOS and Android, then Windows Phone is your best choice. Nokia made the move to bring the platform once step closer to the masses by indulging into the ‘affordable’ marketplace.

The Nokia Lumia 510 was first shown about two months ago and it was running Windows Phone 7.5 Tango by then. This time, it turned out that it will now be sporting the newer Windows Phone 7.8 directly. However, since it is only powered by an 800MHz processor and a measly 256MB of RAM, don’t expect a really smooth experience with this one despite the fact that Windows Phone OS can run smoothly on low specced device.

Since it will run on Windows Phone 7.8, it will now be able to resize the homescreen tiles, will come with 20 accent colors, and improved contact sharing among others.

UPDATE: Since the Nokia Lumia 510 was launched in the Philippines earlier, the first batch might still be on Windows 7.5 Tango. For those who’re waiting, the update will probably come early next year.

If you’re wondering whether the Nokia Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800, and Lumia 900 will be updated, yes – but not to Windows Phone 8. Instead, the 7.8 update will head over to these devices early next year as the builds are now on their final tests.
