Most people will resort to less popular smartphone brands to get the best possible features for the price. However, there’s no denying that people will still trust the brand they’re familiar with. Especially when after-sales support and durability are what they’re after.
Even if you’re budget is under Php10,000, there are still a lot of options out there from popular smartphone manufacturers. One of them is the Samsung Galaxy A20s.
As you know, Samsung is still on top of their game, especially with the release of the Galaxy S20 series. But, you don’t have to spend a ludicrous amount of money to own a decent Galaxy device.
However, if you’re not big about brand loyalty, there are other similarly priced devices outside the Samsung space. Here we have the Huawei Y7p, a handset from another company that’s highly regarded thanks to their killer flagship devices.
With that, here in our Huawei Y7p versus Samsung Galaxy A20s specifications and features comparison, we’ll see how many features you’re getting out of these two devices. And ultimately, we’ll help you choose which smartphone is right for you.

If we’re looking at the specs and hardware alone, it’s clear that the Huawei Y7p easily beats the Samsung Galaxy A20s.
Huawei’s bet dominated the performance department with its more powerful Kirin 710F octa-core processor. For a perspective, this is the same chipset found on more expensive midrange devices, like the Huawei Y9s.
On the other hand, the Galaxy A20s settles for an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. Although both devices share the same 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage configuration.
The Huawei Y7p also has better cameras. It comes with a 48-megapixel primary camera — easily beating the 13-megapixel shooter on the Galaxy A20s.
To Samsung’s credit, the Galaxy A20s do come with a sharper 5-megapixel depth sensor (versus 2-megapixels). But both phones share the same 8-megapixel ultra-wide and selfie cameras.
Of course, we have the punch-hole camera on the top left of the screen. A really unique look than the traditional Infinity-V notch that the Samsung device has.

The Huawei Y7p might have overtaken the Samsung Galaxy A20s in the hardware department, but there’s actually one key flaw that this device has. Which could easily be a deal-breaker for a lot of people.
That is the lack of Google Mobile Services. This means that you’d be relying on Huawei’s own App Gallery as it doesn’t have Google Play. Also, there’s no official way of installing Gmail, Google Maps, and other Google apps (yet).
There are few better things that the Galaxy A20s has over the Y7p. There’s the bigger 6.5-inch display, a USB Type-C port instead of microUSB, and a faster 15W charging support.
Now, the decision is up to you. If you are tech-savvy enough to side-load Google apps — or you’re willing to adopt Huawei’s ecosystem — then getting the Huawei Y7p and its feature-packed hardware will suit you well.
But if you just want a smartphone that works right out of the box, then you might be better off settling with the Samsung Galaxy A20s.
The Samsung Galaxy A20s is now available in tons of stores across the Philippines, while the Huawei Y7p will arrive later this month. Both devices have a retail price of Php9,990.
