Samsung went ahead and launched the new Galaxy A7 2018 several days ago. This new device is equipped with a triple-camera setup on the back, the first device from the Korean giant to offer a Huawei P20 Pro-like experience.
But besides its jam-packed camera features, the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 also has a compelling price tag of Php17,990. With this asking price, the handset is poised to go head to head against some of the popular midrange offerings in the market today.
One of the competing devices is the OPPO F9. Priced exactly the same at Php17,990, the F9 comes from a brand that’s starting to become a household name in the Philippine market.
In our review of the OPPO F9, we liked that this device offers a good design, decent performance, capable cameras, and fast charging capability.
In our OPPO F9 versus Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 specifications and features comparison, we’ll see if Samsung’s latest attempt to penetrate the midrange market in the Philippines has what it takes to disrupt its competitors. Let’s start!

It looks like Samsung has finally nailed it this time. Their previous midrange offering— the Galaxy J8 — feels like they’re getting way ahead of themselves. But with the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018, it looks like they finally got the right recipe. Samsung got it really right that they might have something that could beat an OPPO device to a fight.
First off, we have its most obvious win, the triple rear camera setup. It features a 24-megapixel sensor with a bright aperture lens, an 8-megapixel with a wide-angle view, and a third 5-megapixel depth sensor. All of which provide more shooting flexibility when compared to 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel cameras of the OPPO F9.
However, since OPPO is known for their expertise in selfie technology, its 25-megapixel front-facing camera with tons of software novelties might still outshine the 24-megapixel camera that the former has.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 also has a more compelling display. It sports a 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen, which can offer better colors and contrast than the 6.3-inch display of the OPPO F9.

Processor-wise, OPPO used a 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor on the F9, while Samsung utilized their own 2.2Ghz Exynos 7885 octa-core chipset on the Galaxy A7 2018.
But despite the processors having theoretically the same performance, we expect the OPPO F9 to deliver better performance because of its 6GB of RAM, which can make app loading and multitasking better than the competitor’s 4GB of RAM.
In addition, its Mali-G72 MP3 is obviously better than the Mali-G71 GPU of the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018. We also expect the F9 to deliver even better performance as OPPO introduces their Hyper Boost technology, their own take on the GPU Turbo feature that’s found on Huawei and Honor devices.
People who are always on the go would really appreciate the OPPO F9’s 3,500mAh battery, which is marginally bigger than the 3,300mAh battery of the latter. OPPO’s bet also brags their VOOC fast-charging technology, which worked impressively well in our testing.
To finally wrap it up, if you want a device that has flagship-like features, then the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 is the one for you. Its vibrant display, triple rear cameras, and good processor make it stand out in this saturated smartphone category.
But if performance and selfies are the top priority, the OPPO F9’s bigger 6GB of RAM, 25-megapixel selfie camera, and reliable 3,500mAh battery with VOOC fast-charging capability promises that it can keep up with you despite your busy schedule.
The configuration of both Samsung and Oppo looks quite similar except for the fact that Oppo has 6 GB ram whereas Samsung has 4 GB ram. Samsung has better camera configuration. I personally like Samsung. I think they last much longer as compared to Oppo or other competitors.
Thanks for sharing, have a good day. :)
