HMD Global just announced the Nokia 7.1, their first device to ever come with the new version of Android. On the same launch event, the company also said that they will be bringing the Android 9 Pie on select devices starting this October.
Before this month ends, those who own the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus will receive the newest software offering from Google. This fast and punctual update is just one of the benefits of Nokia’s decision to have their entire smartphone line-up running under the Android One platform.
Come November, the update will also arrive on its higher-end line-up. Both the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco owners should expect to get a taste of Android Pie by next month. The company didn’t provide a specific date for the update rollout, but we can surely expect it to be available in different markets on the specified release month.
A lot of Android OEMs could really learn a thing or two from HMD Global and Nokia, who already promised that they will be bringing the Android 9.0 update to their devices, way before Google even had an official name for it.
Other than the aforementioned devices, the company also committed that they will be bringing the new update to the rest of their smartphones in the coming months or weeks.
