We’re just a few months away until Apple officially launches their 2018 iPhone line-up. And as we closer to that day, leaks surrounding the upcoming smartphones get more detailed.
This new one came from a Twitter user named Ben Geskin. This notorious leakster is known for his detailed renders of upcoming iPhones. But with his new post, the user was able to get a hold of physical dummies of the highly-anticipated smartphones.
The pictured dummy units are for the top-of-the-line 6.5-inch iPhone 2018 model, and the rumored budget-friendly 6.1-inch iPhone variant. The missing piece here is the 5.8-inch model, which is the closest successor to the current iPhone X.
Going back, the mock-up units show their design, plus Apple’s material choices for the two models.
The top spec-ed iPhone will be identical to the current model, albeit only larger. It will be constructed in stainless steel and has a dual camera on the back.
On the other hand, the cheaper model will use an aluminum frame to cut cost. The back panel is still covered in glass, although it will only feature a single primary camera.
Both devices will keep the thick display notch on top, with no signs of the TouchID making a comeback.
The cheaper iPhone model has a slightly thicker chin to provide ample space for the screen’s controllers as it will use an LCD panel, instead of OLED that’s found on the higher-end models. Again, to keep the price at the minimum.
In addition, the budget iPhone is expected to come in new color variants. The previous leak suggests that it will be available in Blue and Orange options. That’s apart from the usual Space Grey, White/Silver, and Product Red color variants that it might come with.
The new iPhone 2018 models are expected to be unveiled in September. Although there is news flying around that the budget model will be delayed due to some production issues.
