Xiaomi took an aim at Razer when they launched their first gaming laptop. And now, it looks like Xiaomi wants to start a war as they are set to unveil their new gaming smartphone — the Black Shark.
As reported earlier, this upcoming smartphone won’t actually carry Xiaomi‘s name. Instead, it will be under the Black Shark brand, a Xiaomi-backed smartphone company.
The company released a teaser that gives us a sneak peek of how the device would look like. It appears that the handset will have soft curves and edges, far from the boxy look of the Razer Phone.
A button at the left side is also visible. But if you look a little closer, it looks like a slider that was previously seen on devices like the OnePlus 5. There’s also a tiny vertical line on top which is most likely an antenna band.
The teaser photo has Chinese words that translate to “Born to compete”. Judging by its rumored specs, it looks like it intends to go head to head with everyone in the smartphone battlefield.
We can expect the Black Shark to sport all of the best hardware you can find in a high-end 2018 smartphone. Rumors lead to a Snapdragon 845 chipset, either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
Since it is a gaming-centric smartphone, the screen is expected to feature a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz and with HDR support.
We’ll know more about this device when it goes official on April 13.
