For this comparison, we will be focusing on one of the Zenfone Max Pro M1‘s competitor from the OPPO camp, the OPPO A83 4GB.

ASUS hasn’t revealed the official pricing of the Max Pro M1 here in the Philippines yet. But judging by its retail price in India, it will most likely go against the A83 4GB when it arrives here in the country. ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 - Price, Specs, Features, Availability

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 didn’t give the OPPO A83 4GB a chance on the specs comparison table above. ASUS’ soldier did not only beat the A83, but it drove miles away ahead of it.

First off, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 sports a larger 5.99-inch display with a more pixel-packed resolution of Full HD+. On the other hand, the OPPO A83 only has a 5.7-inch HD+ screen. The former also uses a faster and more efficient Snapdragon 636 processor, while the latter is only equipped with a Helio P23 processor.

The dual-camera rear setup of the ASUS smartphone is obviously better than the single 13-megapixel primary shooter found on OPPO’s offering. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 also runs in a clean Android 8.1 Oreo operating system without any skins, while the OPPO A83 comes with Android Nougat dressed with ColorOS 3.2.

And of course, it’s hard to miss the Max Pro M1’s huge 5,000mAh battery, as it’s substantially better than the 3,180mAh of its rival. That’s a difference of 1,820mAh which could possibly translate to 2 to 3 hours more usage time.

But to OPPO’s credit, their face beauty technology and overall selfie prowess are one of the best in the industry. Even though it lacks a fingerprint scanner, it’s facial recognition security feature works really well based on our tests with OPPO’s other devices.

OPPO A83 Philippines

In the end, it all boils down to the price and the consumers’ preference. The OPPO A83 retails for a price of Php11,990. Meanwhile, the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1, if directly converted from its official price in India, costs approximately Php10,300. However, that price can drastically change due to taxes and other importation expenses when it arrives in the Philippines.

If it will come here with a price tag of around Php12,000 to Php13,000, I still think that it is a better option than the OPPO A83 4GB as it has overall better specifications. But for people who prioritize good cameras for selfies, OPPO’s bet might be the better option.
