It is one thing to have a powerful hardware so that games will run smoothly. But it is also another thing to have a smart and efficient software to handle said hardware and bring out the best of its capabilities.
That’s exactly what Huawei’s GPU Turbo update is all about. This technology basically increases the GPU performance and reduces battery consumption. It’s actually pretty interesting and we covered it in detail in our previous article.
This new feature debuted on the Honor Play and Honor 9i — midrange gaming smartphones under Huawei’s sub-brand. But now, the feature is slated to come in other Huawei and Honor devices through a software update.
The Huawei GPU Turbo update will first hit the Mate 10 and Honor V10 this month. It will be followed by the P20 Series, Nova 2s, Honor 10, and Mate RS Porsche Design, and the MediaPad M5 in July.
By August, expect the update to arrive on the Honor Play 7X, Honor 9 Lite, Maimang 6 (Nova 2i), Enjoy 7S, Enjoy 8 Plus, and Nova 3e. The Mate 9 Series will receive the update on September, while the P10 Series, Honor V9, and Honor 9 should get it by October.
Don’t worry if your device is not mentioned above as more Huawei and Honor smartphones will be receiving the GPU Turbo update by November or later.
Huawei also revealed an exciting new feature for the Huawei Mate 10 users. With an upcoming update, the device will gain a 970fps slow-motion video recording that we first saw on the P20 and P20 Plus. In our full review of the Huawei Mate 10, we mentioned that its cameras are one of its strongest points. And with the new feature in tow, it strengthens its imaging capabilities even more.
