If you’re really tight on budget, you might want to check out the Cherry Mobile Flare J3s. For only php1,990, you can already own a smartphone with a 5.3-inch display, 3,000mAh battery, 1.3Ghz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage that you can expand by up to 32GB.
It also has a 5-megapixel selfie camera for video calls. Although, it lacks 4G LTE, so you may need to have WiFi connection or settle with 3G network. It’s available in Cherry Mobile stores nationwide and through Lazada.
The MyPhone myP1 is a brand new phone that just came out this August 2020. It has a 1.3GHz Unisoc quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, 2,600mAh battery, and a 5.45-inch display.
Although, it still lack 4G LTE, so you have to rely on WiFi and 3G to stay connected. It’s available in MyPhone physical stores and through Lazada for Php2,699.
If you want a device from a more prominent brand, here’s the Nokia C1. It has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 5.45-inch IPS display, 5-megapixel front, and 8-megapixel rear cameras.
It ships with 2,500mAh battery, but still doesn’t have 4G connectivity. Get it at Nokia stores both online and offline.
MyPhone myXI1 Plus
Instead of spending money on a WiFi network, it will be cheaper to just get a 4G-capable smartphone. The cheapest on this list that has 4G connectivity is the MyPhone myXI1 Plus.
It’s powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, has 2,600mAh battery, 5.45-inch display, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and 8-megapixel primary shooter. Price starts at Php2,999 for the 2GB/16GB model, while the 3GB/32GB cost Php500 mode at Php3,499. Available in physical and online MyPhone stores nationwide.

Cherry Mobile Flare S8
It’s already a year old, but the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 is still one of the most packed smartphones in this list. This device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P23 octa-core processor, with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE, 2800mAh battery, and 13-megapixel cameras in front and back.
You can get it at Cherry Mobile physical stores and through Lazada for Php3,999.
The Huawei Y5p lacks Google Mobile Services. But if you can get around with it, you’re gonna get a pretty decent set of hardware.
Priced at only Php4,490, this Huawei device is powered by a Helio P22 procesor, has 2GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE, 3,020mAh battery, 5.45-inch HD screen, 5-megapixel front, and 8-megapixel rear cameras. Available at Huawei stores for Php4,490.
The Xiaomi Redmi 9A is possibly the cheapest smartphone that the company offers in the Philippines. But despite its price, it comes with a Helio G25 octa-core processor — a gaming-centric chipset for budget phones. It’s bundled with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 4G LTE, a large 6.53-inch HD+ screen, generous 5,000mAh battery, 5-megapixel front, and 13-megapixel rear cameras.
With its price of only Php4,690, it’s one of the most value-oriented devices on this list.
The Realme C11 is marketed to be a device meant for students. With a price of only Php4,990, it already comes with an interesting design, a large 6.5-inch display, and 5,000mAh battery, a Helio G35 processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB of storage.

If you don’t mind extending your budget a tad bit more, then you might want to check out the Redmi 9C. It still has a Helio G35 processor, 5,000mAh battery, and a 6.5-inch HD+ screen. But this time, you’re getting triple cameras on the back. The actual retail price is Php5,290, but it will be available for Php4,990 next week. Xiaomi regularly have promos, so it’s probably under Php5k most of the time.
It’s also available in this bright Sunrise Orange and Twilight Blue color options. A top-tier option with 3GB/64GB config is available for Php5,990 so you don’t need to buy a microSD card.
TECNO Spark 5 Pro
Here’s something from TECNO Mobile, a smartphone brand that just arrived in the Philippines. Their first offering, the Spark 5 Pro, has a large 6.6-inch HD+ display with a punch-hole, Helio P22 processor, a generous 4GB/64GB configuration, four cameras on the back, and a 5,000mAh battery.
It has an SRP of Php4,999 but if you’re luck, you can get it at TECNO Mobile’s official store in Shopee for only Php4,999.
